I was a U.S. District Court appointed Settlement Officer and a Bankruptcy Court appointed Mediator for several years and I have been a mediator for the Jackson County Circuit Court since the summer of 2010. I have devoted well over 100 hours to preparation for and mediation of disputed matters.
I was admitted to the California Bar in 1966. I received my B.A. degree from UCLA (1963) and my J.D. degree from The UCLA School of Law (1966). I served as chairman of the Executive Committee of the Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association from 1991-1992 and as vice chair of the American Bar Association Business Bankruptcy Committee on Administration, Jurisdiction, Venue and the United States Trustee.
I have completed over 30 hours of mediation training, mainly from the Straus Institute For Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine School Of Law. Prior to my retirement in March 2010, I devoted over 40 years of practice to creditors' rights, bankruptcy, insolvency and business reorganizations, with particular emphasis on complex reorganizations in a wide range of industries. My experience as counsel and as chapter 7 and 11 trustee exposed me to numerous issues in diverse areas of the law.
